Lectures
The CERVIN arranges lectures in public and private institutions. The topics we talk about are supposed to point out the dangers of drug consumption. In this way we are able to do preventive work with about 1.200 people yearly. Our speaker is the pedagogue Luiz Carlos de Arruda, expert in the area of drug addiction, with a degree of the PUC, Paraná.

Visiting Us
At any time there can be arranged an appointment to view the CERVIN. There will be a tour of the facilities, as well as internees can be interviewed about their past and present difficulties and successes right now. These visits can be arranged to include a lecture on prevention.

Self-Help Groups (Follow-up Care)
All of the patients of the CERVIN visit self-help groups during their therapy. These take place in five cities close to the CERVIN (Apucarana, Cambé, Londrina, Rolândia and Maringá). Ex-patients, people with related problems and the families of addicts also take part in these.
We aim to:
a) Help families with a drug addict family member
b) Help people prevent or conquer the use of drugs
c) Assist patients in a therapy with the reintegration in society
Partnership with CAPS AD
CAPS AD (“center of social-psychologic care – alcohol and other drugs”)
The CAPS AD is a partner organisation of the CERVIN. Here the participants are supported psychiatrically and are part in self-help groups. The CAPS receives active support from psychologists, social workers, medical doctors, occupational therapists, nurses and teachers in physical education.
Partnership with Churches
The CERVIN is a Christian institution, but is not tied to any denomination. Followers of any belief are welcome. Churches, independent of their denomination, get involved with organizing worship services, lectures, helping people who are looking for work and help to sustain the CERVIN financially. Every month we visit different churches with the internees.
The Actual Therapy
To work as effectively as possible the clinic is divided into two main units: the male unit in Rolândia and the female unit in Cambé. The men are divided in teenagers (12 to 17 years) and adults (18 and above). Every unit has its own program: the adult program, the adolescent program and the female program. Every unit has its own staff. The units are similar in their basic structure (administration) and the procedure of therapy:
Selection: during the first month the internee gets to know the clinic and the methods of therapy. If the patient is willing to continue his therapy, he will be transferred to the next phase.
First phase: the duration depends: for adults two months and for teenagers one and a half months
Second phase: for adults two months and for teens two and a half months
Third phase: one month
After six months (180 days) the patient concludes his therapy.
Prevention of Relapse
We recommend that every patient who finishes their therapy joins a self-help group and a church. After completing the therapy our experts can still be consulted.
For teenagers who do not have a family exists the possibility to live in the “Casa de Apoio” (“House of Help”). Here the youth is brought into a substitute family where he learns how to reintegrate in the society.
